## Notes on the data - Study 1 Each observation refers to the proposed punishment by one participant, on one round, of one behavior (act or omission, jointly or solely responsible) where a harm event occurred. ## Explanation of the variables punishment: proposed punishment (0-10). round: N.B. In some of the early sessions, participants did 15 rounds of each treatment. In most sessions it was 12. exp_num (Number of past experiments in lab -- binned): N.B. some missing data on this variable act_omission (dummy): 1 = action, 0 = omission joint_solo (dummy): 1 = jointly causal, 0 = solely causal treatment_order (dummy): 1 = Two omissions treatment in block 1; 0 = Two actions treatment in block 1. norm_asymmetry: difference in fairness judgments for punishing act vs omission, standardized participant_id: individual participant id, for random effects control ## Notes on the data - Study 2 In study 2, there is only one treatment, so no variable for treatment order. All harmful behaviors are jointly responsible, so there is no joint_solo variable. All other variables from study 1 are the same. There is one additional variable. causal_judg_asym: Difference in judgments of causal responsibility of act vs omission for harm, standardized.
