\nImportant ACR 2012 Conference Deadlines:
\nMonday, March 19, 5 p.m. Central Standard Time: submission
\ndeadline for all conference tracks except the Film Festival.<\/p>\nThe 2012 North American Conference of the Association for Consumer
\nResearch will be held at the Sheraton Wall Centre Hotel from
\nThursday, October 4 through Sunday, October 7, 2012. The theme of
\nACR 2012 is “Appreciating Diversity.\u201d This theme is especially
\nappropriate for ACR Vancouver for at least two reasons. First, we want
\nthe conference to acknowledge, capture and celebrate the explosion of
\ntopics and research methods that has occurred in consumer research
\nin recent years. The co-chairs and track chairs will seek to highlight
\nscholarship that contributes to diversity in terms of innovative topics,
\nadds to knowledge in established areas in unheralded ways, embraces
\ndiverse research applications and a wide array of consumers, and
\ncontributes to inclusiveness in our field. Second, the theme is fitting
\nbecause of the progressive approach by our conference city,
\nVancouver, to embrace diversity on multiple fronts. Not only is the city
\nvaried in its population and economic base, but it also offers a
\nbreathtaking array of experiences rooted in its geography and its
\nculture.<\/p>\n
A pre-conference Doctoral Symposium will be held on Thursday, Oct. 4
\n(co-chaired by Jennifer Argo, University of Alberta and Amna Kirmani,
\nUniversity\u00a0 of\u00a0 Maryland).\u00a0 The\u00a0 conference\u00a0 opens\u00a0 with\u00a0 a\u00a0 reception\u00a0 on
\nThursday\u00a0 evening. The\u00a0 conference\u00a0 program\u00a0 on\u00a0 Friday\u00a0 and\u00a0 Saturday
\nwill\u00a0 include\u00a0 Competitive\u00a0 Paper\u00a0 sessions,\u00a0 Special sessions,\u00a0 Roundtable
\ndiscussions,\u00a0 Poster\u00a0 sessions,\u00a0 and\u00a0 the\u00a0 Film\u00a0 Festival.\u00a0 A\u00a0 Gala\u00a0 Reception
